Joy Is the Compass: Betting on Yourself in the Age of Aquarius
Share
...or how I left corporate America to follow my heart into herbal honeys, ritual, and the bizarre unknown
Let me tell you something:
Betting on yourself sounds really cute until you’re standing at the edge of a cliff, sweating in your good work pants, holding a glass jar of infused honey and wondering if this is really the leap the universe meant for you.
But here I am. Leapt.
And now my mom is following me down this same glittery spiral slide, out of corporate America and into what we call “weird work”: holistic healing, herbs, ritual, community care, and all the strange, sweet magic we make.
It’s terrifying. And it’s sacred.
And maybe... it's what we’re meant to do.
The Age of Aquarius Wants You to Be Weird
Astrologically speaking (and I always am), we’re in the Age of Aquarius, the time of rebellion, innovation, individuality, and non-traditional paths. If you feel the pull to do something unconventional, something that doesn’t have a degree or an HR department attached to it, it’s not just a quirky midlife crisis.
It’s alignment.
We’re not supposed to be cogs in machines anymore.
We’re meant to be constellation dots, glowing, weird, connected, and free.
Intuition: Overrated? Kinda. Let Me Explain.
Everyone loves to talk about that “tiny voice inside.”
But let’s be honest, intuition doesn’t always show up like a delicate whisper floating down your spine. Sometimes it’s a meme. Sometimes it’s your third peppermint tea of the day. Sometimes it’s a number you see on a receipt and just know.
Sometimes it’s a double-take.
Sometimes it’s a heart-racing conversation that makes you forget it’s midnight.
Sometimes it’s your mom blurting out an idea and both of you laughing because it actually makes sense.
So yeah, intuition is real, but not in the way people talk about.
Not just the voice. It’s the energy.
It’s the spark.
It’s the joy.
Follow Joy Like It’s GPS
You want to know if you’re in alignment?
If you’re on the right path?
If this wildly inconvenient, financially terrifying decision is actually the one you’re supposed to make?
Check your joy.
Joy is the language of the universe when it's trying to hand you the map.
Not feel-good happiness, that's fleeting.
But deep, soul-fed joy.
The kind that buzzes through your chest and keeps you up brainstorming at 2 a.m.
The kind that makes your life feel lit from within, even when you have no idea where it’s going.
That’s what I follow.
And that’s how I got here.
Betting on Myself (And Losing My Mind, A Little)
I left a “safe” job in corporate America, benefits, paychecks, expectations, because I believed that something better existed if I let myself be bizarre. I had faith, numerology, some stars in my corner, and a very patient support system.
My mom, Melissa, now co-owner and full-time cosmic bee, is following her own breadcrumb trail out of corporate. And we’re making infused honeys and spiritual tools like it’s what we were born to do.
Because maybe it is.
Because the universe didn’t nudge us. It shoved us.
Not Just a Leap, A Re-Rooting
This wasn’t a whim. It was a remembering.
Before any of this shop stuff, I was making beeswax candles on YouTube and talking about herbs and doing rituals for real, deep healing. Not aesthetic. Not performative. Just… sacred. Just me. Just what kept me going when I didn’t have much else.
And then, out of nowhere (aka perfect divine timing), taking over an apothecary.
Over. And over. And over. I said no.
Until the no started tasting like a lie.
Until the universe got so loud I couldn’t ignore it.
I wasn’t following “my passion.” I was following the pattern. The nudges. The signs. The joy.
Okay But How Do You Do It?
I wish I could tell you there’s a blueprint.
But here’s the truth:
-
You will be afraid.
-
You will question everything.
-
You will lose sleep.
-
You will lose some friends.
-
You will gain parts of yourself you didn’t know existed.
-
You will change.
-
And that’s the point.
Betting on yourself is not about knowing it’ll work.
It’s about deciding that you are worth the risk.
What helped me:
-
Having community who cheered me on (even just energetically)
-
Knowing my numerology cycles (I’m telling you, it works)
-
Accepting that sometimes “crazy ideas” are the ones that finally make you feel sane
-
Letting joy be the compass, not the voice, the vibration
From Corporate to Cosmic
Now, our work is infused honey, herbal products, incense, whimsical offerings, and an ever-growing hive of bees (2,400+ followers and counting). We’re not chasing algorithms. We’re not trying to go viral. We’re just being faithful.
We make small batches of real things for real people.
We’ve got chronic pain and ADHD and trauma and joy and cinnamon and glitter and a whole lot of faith.
We package everything with intention.
We stand behind every product because we use every product.
And if no one buys it?
At least we made it with joy.
At least we made it for us.
This Is Your Sign (But Only If It Buzzes)
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to leap, this might be it.
But only if something inside you lights up when you read this.
Only if your heart beats a little faster.
Only if your brain gets loud with ideas.
Only if the energy feels like a “YES.”
Because that’s how you know.
Not from someone else’s blog post.
Not from a five-step plan.
Not even from your “tiny voice.”
But from joy.
From knowing.
From the way your soul rises to meet the idea.
Bet on yourself.
Follow the weird, sacred road.
Listen for the buzz. And when you hear it?
Leap.
We'll be waiting here with honey.

P.S. If it's not a fuck yes, it's a hell no!
