We’re Not Reinventing the Hive, Just Adding Our Buzz 🐝

Reflections from the basement, the blessings, and the bickering
We’re not here to say we’re the only mother-daughter team who works well together, because we’re definitely not.
We’re also not here to claim that sharing our stories makes us special, because we know we’re joining a community of people who’ve been doing that beautifully, bravely, and consistently for a long time.
We’re just stepping into our little spot in the hive.
And we’re buzzing with gratitude to be here.
Blessings Bee Bzzaar is a continuation of something much bigger than us, a long, loving tradition of community care, story sharing, and holding space for people while they grow. We’ve seen that modeled. We’ve benefited from it. And now, we’re contributing back in our own way.
What might set us apart? Well, we’re a mother-daughter duo with a lot of shared history, not just in life, but in business. We’ve worked together before, back in the insurance world. (Yep. We went from deductibles to divination.) And while that might seem like a big leap, it actually taught us everything we needed to know about how to serve community with honesty, clarity, and respect.
From Auto Insurance to Bee Magic
In insurance, we learned that every person has their people.
Some customers only wanted to talk to Mariam.
Others? Only Melissa.
Some wanted the agent they started with. Some chose based on language, comfort, energy, or, hey, maybe they just thought the agent was cute. Who knows?
But there was always enough space for everyone to thrive.
There was always enough abundance to go around.
That belief, that there’s enough for everyone, shaped how we worked then and how we work now.
We were transparent. We explained everything. We made sure people knew what they were signing.
And when they left our office, they didn’t just feel insured, they felt understood.
They came back. They brought their families. Their friends. Their communities.
At one point, our location became a hub for the Deaf community.
Why? Because they knew they didn’t have to re-explain their needs every time.
They knew they could trust us to get it, to be respectful, and to not treat them like their disability was some kind of inconvenience.
When you live in a world that wasn’t built with you in mind, finding a space that sees you clearly is sacred.
That culture of care, clarity, and connection is still in our bones. It’s how we show up now, just in a more fragrant, sparkly, slightly bzzaar way.
We Bicker, But With Intention
Working together again as mother and daughter?
It’s real. It’s raw. It’s a lot of love and a little sass.
We still have moods. We still get into it. But we don’t let problems fester.
We talk through things. We hold space for each other even when we're annoyed.
We don’t dump our stress into the space or into our creations. We move through it, and we grow because of it.
That kind of intentional energy carries into everything we make, every pop-up we host, every candle we pour, and every cup of tea we brew. It matters to us. Because you matter to us.
Our Little Basement Buzz
Right now, you’ll find us nestled in the basement of a office building off Venetucci Blvd in Colorado Springs.
Is it ideal? Not quite.
Is it functional, cozy, and bursting with potential? Absolutely.
We’ve got a full kitchen.
We’ve got tables (so vendors don’t have to haul theirs).
We’ve got a spacious conference room that’s already been used for auditions and film shoots.
We’ve got curbside pickup, and yes, it’s as ADA as we can be for now.
You don’t even have to leave your car. Call the number on the door, park in the designated spot, and we’ll bring your blessings out to you.
Sign coming soon (because Colorado wind is no joke, and we need something sturdy).
We’re working with what we’ve got, and doing it with joy.
The Hive Is Bigger Than Us
We’re not the center of this movement, we’re just a piece of it.
And we like it that way.
We’re honored to step into the flow of this buzzing, blooming, generous community of makers, healers, artists, and storytellers.
We know there are so many beautiful people doing this work in their own way.
We’re just here to hold our corner down with love, snacks, and sass.
If we can make people feel a little more seen…
If we can remind someone that they belong, just as they are…
If we can be one more voice helping others reconnect with their own…
Then we’re doing what we came here to do.
Every bee in the hive has a role.
Every hand in the circle has a gift.
We’re just here to keep the buzz going.
With love, light, and a little mother-daughter chaos,
Mariam & Melissa
